Sacratzlan

Sacraztlan, is an ongoing series that was started in 2018. This series showcases vibrant colors and movimiento through Indigenous dance while honoring Southside Park’s significance. The history of Southside Park and the murals that are on stage not only hold important value to me but they represent the existence of Sacramento’s Mexica community and our Chicano activism.
While Sacraztlan intertwines colors and movement interchangeably it’s also acknowledging ceremonial grounds for our Mexica community. With this series, I have aimed to honor our tradition and the unbalances in the world that we dancers may face not only when dancing, but in the world living as indigenous people in a westernized society. Although this series focuses on Mexica Natives in California, we Indigenous people are still here. If you are a Sacramento danzante and would like to be a part of Sacraztlan please send me a message.
A mi comunidad, les agradezco a todos desde el fondo de mi corazón. Thank you for guiding me, and encouraging me throughout my life on my photography journey.
